By nurturing a love of reading early, we help children enter school ready to learn, setting the foundation for lifelong success.
Through hands-on experience with books, children gain the knowledge and responsibility needed to enter school prepared
We help children to become strong readers
and world-changers.
Hardeman County Imagination Library is where kids grow!
Welcome to the Hardeman County Imagination Library!
We are the local program partner to Dolly Patron’s Imagination Library. While the Dollywood Foundation chooses and prints the books, handles registrations, mailing and other administrative tasks, local partners pay the cost of books and postage for children enrolled in their area. In Tennessee, the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation shares this cost. Our share can be over $1000 each month.
We are all volunteers—there is no paid staff with the Hardeman County Imagination Library. Each volunteer has their own regular job, so every dollar donated goes directly toward putting books in the hands of children.
How it Works
Children in Hardeman County are enrolled in the program and receive a carefully selected, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home each month.
Parents, grandparents, and caregivers are encouraged to read these books aloud—because your involvement makes a difference!
Early exposure to books and language during the critical “sponge years” (birth to age five) helps children absorb knowledge and develop essential skills for school and beyond.
Beyond Kindergarten
This is just the beginning—it does not end with us. The Early Literacy Foundation partners with schools to continue fostering literacy from kindergarten through third grade, ensuring that the love of reading continues, and children remain confident learners.
